AERZ civil structural consulting did structural assessment on an external masonry stairs on October 2024 on south east Calgary, Alberta. The assessment of stairs reveals foundation problems of stair foundation and unsafe conditions of stairs. The concrete foundation of the stair was rotating. The supports of stairs foundation were broken.
The rotation of the stair foundation has led to an increase of the stairs runs and top stair landing slopes. The increase slope of stairs and landing were more than allowable by the Alberta and national building code, and it became hazardous to owners.
